If anything, the Steelers have moved on. That Bell didn't show up for work Monday hardly qualifies as news. This is not a great development for Baltimore as he was solidifying himself as the top tight end on the team. Heading into the preseason, it was unclear if the Ravens would keep four tight ends on the roster, but due to Hurst’s injury, Mark Andrews’ poor preseason performances, and Nick Boyle’s lack of production in the passing game, it is now a guarantee. The question is who will be the fourth tight end?Darren Waller is the most intriguing player in this competition as he has plenty of untapped potential. He has an enticing combination of size, speed, and athleticism Brandon Williams Jersey , but he has been far from reliable throughout his entire career. Waller has struggled with injuries and suspensions. He is also coming off of a year-long suspension, and he may not be ready to contribute at this point. Despite being a key member on special teams last season, Vince Mayle failed to make much of an impact offensively. He did have a rushing touchdown against the Raiders, but other than that he was a non-factor. Mayle did not record a single reception last season, and he should be considered a longshot to make the team. Maxx Williams will benefit the most from this injury. He should be considered a roster-lock as he is the only player with a somewhat proven track record. Williams is far from reliable, but keeping him over Waller and Mayle is a no-brainer for Baltimore. Although he has a lengthy injury history and has struggled to make a significant impact offensively, Williams can contribute the most until Hurst returns.He may not have panned out the way Baltimore had hoped, but Williams is a solid blocker, who can emerge as a third-down target. Waller may have a higher upside at this point, but Williams is the safer pick. On September 1st, the Ravens will choose to keep a former second-round selection in the last year of his contract over a player who has only appeared in 18 games with practice squad eligibility. Jimmy Smith’s suspension created an ‘extra roster spot,’ and it will likely go to a fourth tight end. After staying relatively healthy through three preseason games, the Ravens have now lost two starters who will miss the first few games of the season.
