The Philadelphia Eagles executive was hired Friday night to serve as New York’s general manager D.K. Metcalf Jersey , tasked with leading the Jets back to respectability.Douglas, the Eagles’ vice president of player personnel, was one of four candidates interviewed twice by New York for the vacancy. He met with team officials last Saturday and Sunday, and again earlier this week. The team announced Friday night on Twitte r that it had agreed to terms with Douglas. The Jets did not announce the terms of the deal, but ESPN reported it is a six-year contract.Douglas was widely considered the top candidate because he has previous work experience with Jets coach Adam Gase, who served as the team’s acting GM and was heavily involved in the search process. Douglas was Chicago’s director of college scouting in 2015, when Gase was the Bears’ offensive coordinator. They’re now reunited, leading an organization that hasn’t been to the playoffs since the 2010 season.Douglas replaces Mike Maccagnan, who was surprisingly fired last month after four seasons when Jets chairman and CEO Christopher Johnson said he took a “deeper dive” this offseason to analyze the inner-workings of the football side of the organization. Johnson decided to move on from Maccagnan — after firing coach Todd Bowles after the season — and stressed he was looking for “a strategic thinker” and added that “it’s more than a talent evaluation guy.” He also said he wanted “a great manager, a communicator — someone who can collaborate well with the building.”The Jets believe they have exactly that in Douglas, who was widely considered one of the up-and-coming potential GMs.He beat out Chicago assistant director of player personnel Champ Kelly, New Orleans director of pro scouting Terry Fontenot and Seattle co-director of player personnel Scott Fitterer for the job.Douglas helped build the Eagles into a Super Bowl champion during the 2017 season, working closely with executive vice president of football operations Howie Roseman after joining Philadelphia’s front office in 2016.Before his one season in Chicago, Douglas worked in Baltimore’s personnel department from 2000 until 2015. He held various posts with Ravens during that time, including national scout, Southeast area scout Cody Barton Jersey , East Coast area scout, Northeast area scout and player personnel assistant. The former offensive tackle started 45 straight games for the University of Richmond, and was an All-Atlantic 10 selection.Douglas inherits a solid core of talent with the Jets, including second-year quarterback Sam Darnold, running back Le’Veon Bell, safety Jamal Adams, linebacker C.J. Mosley, defensive lineman Leonard Williams and first-round draft pick Quinnen Williams.Douglas and Gase will report to Johnson separately, a structure the owner believes is most effective. Gase was responsible for player personnel during his three years as coach in Miami, but said that is not something he wants in New York. INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — New York Giants coach Pat Shurmur watched his team go toe to toe with a playoff contender Sunday. Then, in the final 10 minutes, everything started slipping away. The offense committed two penalties near its goal line, forcing a punt. The defense drew two penalties, helping the Indianapolis Colts continue to march downfield. And when Andrew Luck changed the play call from a run to a pass on the goal line, not a single Giants player came close to stopping Chester Rogers on his decisive 1-yard touchdown catch that gave Indy a dramatic 28-27 come-from-behind victory.“You win or you lose and we didn’t win,” coach Pat Shurmur said. “That’s the reality http://www.cardinalsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-zach-allen-jersey , that’s the big boy part of this — just keep working and you keep trying to get better, and you keep trying to find ways to make plays at the end, and both sides, really all three sides.”For New York (5-10), it’s been a season full of tough lessons. It looked like the Giants turned the corner after starting the second half with four wins in five games. Now, though, they’ve lost two straight, been eliminated from playoff contention, and rookie running back Saquon Barkley has been held in check the last two weeks. The latest loss will be tough to stomach. While the Giants had plenty opportunities to close out the Colts (9-6) and spoil their playoff hopes, Andrew Luck & Co. made New York pay dearly for the inability to deliver a knockout blow. After driving to the Colts 7 early in the fourth quarter, New York could have made it a two-possession game. Instead, Denico Autry tackled Barkley for a 2-yard loss, Eli Manning was forced to throw the ball away on third down, and they wound up with a 27-yard field goal that gave the Giants a 27-21 lead.“We knew we needed to score more points,” Manning said. “Not getting a touchdown when we were down there that last time and had to settle for a field goal, that was tough. We have to do a better job there. We did a lot of good things Gary Jennings Jr. Jersey , but obviously not quite good enough.”Despite forcing a punt on the Colts’ next possession, the Giants self-destructed after taking over at the 4-yard line. Scott Simonson was called for a false start on the second play, wiping out Barkley’s 3-yard run. A 9-yard pass from Manning to Barkley was negated by a holding call on John Greco, and Barkley was stripped of the ball on a third-down run that nearly went for a touchdown. But the officials ruled Barkley’s forward progress had been stopped — giving the Giants a brief reprieve. When Luck got the ball back with a short field and the playoffs potentially on the line, he took advantage of the Giants’ shortcomings. Linebacker Tae Davis was called for a 2-yard pass interference on third-and-3 from the Giants 46. Cornerback B.W. Webb drew the same infraction in the end zone with 59 seconds left. On the next play, Luck threw the 1-yard TD pass to Rogers and Manning’s interception with 23 seconds left sealed the Giants’ fate.“It’s one of those deals: throw high over the middle, those guys are going to make a play,” Manning said. “But I thought I threw it in a spot where he could make a catch on him and get a chunk right there.”Manning was 25 of 33 with 309 yards and one touchdown, while Barkley was held to 43 yards on 21 carries and five receptions for 34 yards. Barkley scored on a 1-yard run .Luck wound up 31 of 47 with 357 yards, two touchdowns and one interception, leading the Colts to touchdowns on three of the first four second-half possessions before taking a knee on the final series.“I can’t say enough about how clutch Luck was.” Colts coach Frank Reich said. “I mean, he was just clutch that whole last drive making throws, checks.”
